Wheel of Fortune
Steel metal pipe installation that occupies the entire gallery (wall to wall/floor to ceiling). Black & white images of babies move around the structure. Every ten minutes a bell rings to announce a child’s face that gets chosen to be projected on the oversized screen.

“Personnes” was created for the Monumenta exhibition.
His piece consisted of a wall of rusted metal boxes under a row of lamps. A drumbeat like sound surrounded the piece- which is actually the sound of 15,000 heartbeats. Past this wall is the grand hall where there are endless piles of clothes arranged into a grid. Boltanski claims not to work with the holocaust as his subject matter, but rather he “works around it”.
